Winter

Winter was always a special time for me and it reminds me of my childhood in Scotland. Being warm and safe inside and smelling roasted potatoes and chestnuts and seeing the fire glowing.
The best part was of course Christmas and the tree, decorations and family. Living in America there is an abundance of decorations and trees. Moving to a smaller house was a challenge but once again changing decor was fun. Our first Christmas 2018 my theme was white and grey. I had one curtain panel which I divided into four to make two pairs of small panels then added white sheers.
The rods were decorated with artificial boxwood and felt Robins from Ikea. Brought out my summer bedspread and added cushion covers from Pottery Barn. The white summer vase and twigs were decorated with red ribbon and balls. The kitchen had pops of red and bathroom was dark green and red. This past Christmas, 2019, I brought out some old linen curtains and added a wine accent and ties decorated with ribbon and berries. The wine accent was made from two sheer panels each cut in four pieces. Enough for the inserts and ties and no stitching required. The Autumn taupe vase came out and wine ribbon was added to the window topper. Green velvet cushion covers from Crate and Barrel and tree pillow from Pottery Barn completed the wine and green theme. Our antique sideboard from Scotland was bedecked with a runner I made and simple greenery.  A pencil tree from Michaels was ideal for our apartment and Bunny enjoyed the festivities with some Baileys. After Christmas I kept the curtains up added different cushions I had and awaited Spring.
