Ten years of writings and a nice time to look forward and back. Also a good time to think of Alumi – the definition and what it means.
Alumni – pleural noun – a graduate or former student, of a particular school, college, or university.
a former member of a group, company, or organization.
With students at Walnut Hill it is deeper for some because they have stayed connected with each other and the school. They have kept those friendships and also hold dear the community on the Hill that helped them grow into the people they are today.
“What draws people to be friends is that they see the same truth. They share it.” ― C. S. Lewis
It has been so much fun over the years to have alumni visit and share stories. Only last year one alum said to Mr. Reid “ I am sorry, so sorry, I was just a kid, I was just a kid!!” His reference was, I believe, to his inability to sit still during study time! We laughed together and relived more stories.
Also during my writings I have Googled various students and found this morning that one of our students co founded a school with “an integrated curriculum focused on academic rigor, creativity, intellectual freedom and the arts” – shades of WHS I think.
Whatever the Alumni of New Cottage are now doing it has been one of my greatest pleasures to be “mum” to you. Please contact me and let me know what you are doing in your life and remember if you are in the area to stop by. “Knock gently friend what e’er betide, the kettle’s on so come inside.”
