Another snow day Feb 13th but early in the morning before anyone was up I walked over to New Cottage and was struck by the beauty of our Campus.
The sky was still grey and snow filled and all was quiet – not even the sledders were out.
The silence and forms and shadows really amazed me – we are very blessed to live here.
It also made me think of a quote by GK Chesterton (1874-1936) born in London, educated at St. Paul’s, and went to art school at University College London. He was also a prolific writer and apart from many books he wrote some two hundred short stories, including a popular series featuring the priest-detective, Father Brown.

“White is not a mere absence of color; it is a shining and affirmative thing, as fierce as red, as definite as black. God paints in many colors; but He never paints so gorgeously, I had almost said so gaudily, as when He paints in white.” GK Chesterton
