Oblong piece of paper 9” x 3.5”
Wooden beads 0.5” diameter
Ribbon cut into 5” lengths
Heart or star embellishments
Glue stick
Paper clips
Ruler
Scissors
Hot glue gun
In the four pictures directly above and the four pictures below you will see the 8 steps to make an angel.
Firstly get all your necessary materials together. Secondly cut the paper into two equal pieces
and thirdly fold each piece in equal folds aprox .5 inches wide. You will end up with two folded
pieces as seen in picture #4.
Take each piece and fold down aprox. 1 inch on each side to make the wings as seen in picture 5.
Spread some glue stick under the wings to attach to the side of the body and then put glue also in the middle to glue the two parts of the body together. Leave a small part at the top without glue. This part is not shown but once glued hold together with paper clips for a few minutes to set. See picture #6. Gently pull open the body and wings. In picture #7 you will see the space left at the top. Last part is to put ribbon through the bead to make the head and hanger. You will need 5 inches of 3/8 inch ribbon. Use an opened paper clip to assist pushing the ribbon through if needed. These are shown in picture #8. Put some hot glue in the space at the top and slide the ribbon with attached “head” in to the space and hold gently for glue to partially set. Attach embellishments with a small drop of glue on the neck of the angel. You can use different wrapping paper and different ribbon and embellishments.
The story behind the angels.
At the end of each year a thought forms in my mind for the theme for my next Christmas tea.
On Dec 11th, 2022 my husband Ron and I were at the Wayside Inn for our yearly luncheon and afterwards went to browse around ‘The Barn” at the crafts and antiques. I saw these lovely Angels made from hymnal paper and bought some. On Christmas morning I opened a gift from Ron and it was “The Christmas Angel” – a book that I had admired while browsing in the Barn. That was my theme for my tea in 2023. This year I wanted to replicate that tea in Scotland but could not get in touch with the lady who made me many angels. I went on the internet and decided to give it a try.
May you have an Angel filled Christmas and remember what it says in Hebrews 13-2.
Fail not to entertain strangers for some have entertained Angels unawares.
