Teas

I spent the first 26 years of my life in Scotland and have returned for holidays many times since then and there is one tradition that remains the same. When you visit friends and relatives in Scotland you are inevitably asked  “Would you like a cup of tea.” Of course there is always biscuits (cookies to my American readers) I believe that in Scotland more things have been solved, hurts healed and general well being felt over a cup of tea than any other tradition. This quote sums it up

If you are cold, tea will warm you;
if you are too heated, it will cool you;
If you are depressed, it will cheer you;
If you are excited, it will calm you.

-William Ewart Gladstone British Prime Minister 1809 – 1898

In the galleries above you will have seen teas through the seasons and also scenes from our last Daffodil Tea.
At our last tea in 2014 there were over 100 guests and over 5 years we raised over $33,000 for Mesothelioma Research. This gallery also contains scenes from some of my Christmas Teas which I started in 2006 and still hold them.  Credit to Kim Norman for the 4th photo.The last picture is a close up of sugar tongs I bought on a holiday to Scotland in 2019. For me it symbolizes the custom I grew up with and the sweetness of having a cup of tea with those I love.
