Memories of Desiree leaning against our door coffee cup in hand. Mr. Nielsen was our headmaster and we had family style dinner every night. Mr. Neilsen was also an ordained minister and he said grace at the beginning of dinner every night. Faculty also attended some dinners. There was only one phone in the dorm for inter dorm use and one payphone. Check-in time was 6:45pm and in room was 10pm. New Cottage only had one set of dorm parents and they had one night off a week and one weekend off a month. There were fifteen students in New Cottage. There were only five students in Bigelow, no boys boarding as yet, and thirteen international students. We had a gymnastics program with a gymnasium where Keiter is now. My memories of Gina coming to my door with a sweater covered in soap suds and dripping wet and showing her how to do washing. Saving a Mother’s Day card from Gina and receiving a picture of her as a mother many years later. Memories of Merle P. singing as she walked past New Cottage every day.
