A busy year taking our son Kenneth for Chemo and radiation but with no teaching Mr.Reid could be with Kenneth. The dorm did not know much of this as it did not impact them with any lack of coverage. Dan helped out with special Pizza nights for the dorm. On reflection it may have been this year that we made the dorm movie. Pat McE., was our dorm president. This year there were twenty 4 year students and our one and only Nick C., was one of the few boys – seen in the second row of pictures far right. Nick graduated this year. Senior Prophecy – Nick C. – New Cottage poster boy. Who was Soo Yeon L.? Aimee Simmons left this year and I put her beside the senior baby photos because I would constantly think that she was a student on campus! I like to think that was because she looked so young and that it was not me getting older! We continued our jam sessions with Dan and the dorm but now we had percussion also, which included Ben on bongos and Mwaura on congas. Drew J., continued to be our silent creative writer and as I write this Blog etc I wish I were back with him in New Cottage to ask his advice. Ben B. also graduated this year and his senior page had pictures of Harleys. Mr. Carver also loved Harleys and we would hear the bike starting up at the weekend. Sometimes Mr.Carver would even take some lucky senior back from Graduation on the back of his bike. Always had an extra helmet and they had parental permission. Yes I have been on a Harley also – but only to have my photo taken. Andy G., graduated and I will always have the scene of the Sneeze and the Nut dance forever in my memories. I always smile at the thought of it. David K., was also so funny with his narrative about washing his feet. Hiro is another story for sometime later. Last but not least of our seniors was Reese L.,who was a prolific artist. He asked me to store a portfolio of left over stuff for him and also art supplies. He was to come back for it but never did. Years later when cleaning up I rediscovered them and put them to good use. Since they were abstract sheets of color I made some into cards and others I framed. Some are framed and in our new home and I still use the colored pencils.
This was a year of change but a year that ended well for us all.
