Although some students returned, the all black dress was gone. Still the same fun and creativity especially with one duo. Read the letter below. They put the hand typed letter under our door late at night when a prank was to be played on a student who was returning the next day. We discovered the empty room, asked the dorm who was responsible and told them to put everything back before the student returned. Very creative and I kept it in my file of “Dorm Stuff .“ Also the program from Gerson’s recital. Mr Reid taught Gerson math and when asked about homework he would reply, “I have a plan” and Mr. Reid would say, “Yes to do your homework.” He must have done it because he passed and graduated. John T. played piano and not only was I privileged to hear him play at his senior recital but also many years later when he returned to perform. He touched my soul with his music as many students have over the years. A quote from his senior page “How …. Fascinating.” Mr. Z. This was the year a New Cottage dorm video was made – in VHS form – and if I can get it converted I may post it at some time. AG and the hilarious sneeze and the dance of the Nuts. I used the rainbow hat in a clown costume years later. DK talking about girls and the “Flag” song. The story behind that was that on Sunday nights the dorms – under the guidance of the dorm president – would clean up the their dorm, emptying the trash, vacuuming the rugs etc. To encourage dorm pride the reward was that they would fly the Flag for a week if they were chosen by the housekeeping staff. Well, we did win at least once and I have a picture to prove it. We wintered the snow by having jam sessions with Mr. Reid, Dan and anyone else who cared to join in. Dan our other dorm parent was an actor, singer and song writer and Mr. Reid played guitar in a rock band many years ago before he fell in love with Mathematics. As seen in the portion of the school photo Mr. Reid’s beard was still not grey like Mr. Carver or Mr. Shoemaker so he kept on rockin’. Dan and Mr. Reid were a great duo together. When summer approached the shadows were seen on the walkway to Keiter. Time to say goodbye to our seniors, John T., Josh P., Will D., Gerson R., and Eric W.
The memory of “Hot Soup” was the anthem this year- even in Spanish!
