Lots of activity in the dorm this year and our new dorm parent Eric Mitton kept the boys on their toes – literally. Apart from teaching ceramics he was a keen advocate of physical fitness.
I believe that this was about the year that we changed our logo to bands with stars symbolizing our five arts disciplines. This may have also been about the time when a new paint design was put forward for our buildings.
Victorian colors and New Cottage was the first to be painted. A pale pink with pepto bismol pink doors and trim. For a senior prank pink flamingos were positioned everywhere. No further painting was done and we were allowed to paint our front door back to brown. John W. on the other hand organized daffodil planting all over campus and got funds sent in to beautify the campus. A lovely way to add color. John came back years later to reunion and it was nice to reconnect and share stories. I remember this was also a time that some in the dorm organized trips to The Rocky Horror Picture Show near the end of the year. Our children were very confused!!! The year of 1992 and there were two little girls on campus who Courtney G., would babysit – Ruby and Faith – the Woodside children. Years later Ruby would be a dorm parent with me in New Cottage and Faith would be in a new dorm called Bishop Hall. Once a Walnut always a Walnut!! At check-in time Ron would have such fun and would say to two students who usually checked in together. “Sang Bak is back and Hyuk Jin is in.” They always smiled. Gavin and Justin wore baseball caps – not seen much in an Art school. We had members of our dorm graduate this year Max P., Justin H., and Gavin R..  A quote from Most Likely – Most likely to wear plaid – Gavin R. Do you remember how Mike from Fells Taxis would always write a letter to the seniors to be published in the Year book? Once again looking in my box of “dorm stuff” I found a copy of Randy’s senior recital. He graduated this year along with other students associated with New Cottage. Bill P., Alberto L., Seiichi S. and Matt C. I remember this year as the year of ties and daffodils.
