Bruce Miller joined the Theater Department. Ken Tighe was dorm parent in Bigelow and started teaching with the Art Department. We had one student decide not to return but then changed his mind. There was no room but his friend had a large single and said he would buy bunk beds for them if the school would re-admit him. Those bunk beds were given to our children at the end of the academic year and served us until our boys left for college! We then had fourteen boys in New Cottage. Our seniors were Joe, Jacques, Adam and Jack. Also Lori K graduated and came back years later to work in Admissions for some time. Richard W returns each year at Graduation to play the trumpet. Many have returned to visit and even to send their children here. Questions I ask “Do you remember Mike in the kitchen? Mike with the van? John out at night with his flashlight? Do you remember the dying Robot act for the Faculty meeting? Do A and J remember lying on the floor making faces in a mirror.? What were you doing in the hall? What kind of base do you use Mrs. Reid? Do you remember the junk runs? Do you remember the missing hamster? Did J marry L? Do you remember J crawling along the hallway dressed as a cat? Do you remember the end of year party and J putting pillows in his bed? “Also lazer tag that riled up our children just before bedtime at 7pm !!
I remember Adam reciting The Raven in the darkness of his room and a quote from his senior page, “When I met you I was but a learner. Now I am the MASTER.” Darth Vader.
Also another senior quote, “Mr Farley:U’re just too funky for words.” Yes that was 1987-88 fun, food and way too funky for words.
