About
Growing up in Scotland my father was always drawing my attention to the simple things in life, a wildflower, a sunset, the swallows on the wires preparing for their winter migration.
He made up stories for my sister and me and encouraged us to take an interest in many things such as, gardening, fishing, exploring, poetry and anything of good merit. Later in life I would take pictures of these things but they were not quite as good as being there. In my retirement I hope to recapture these things and experiences.
And so on Feb 14th, 2018 is the birth date of Prose With A View

The Blog
Four Decades in New Cottage
Spending most of my life as a dorm parent at a boarding school in New England, USA has left a wealth of stories of many students.
As I write this Blog it is my way of saying “Thank you” to the students and colleagues with whom I have spent 38 years of my life. Like my own children they have brought
smiles to my lips and Joy to my heart. Raising children can also bring hard years and tough times but like most moms I choose to remember the best. I retire from my role as Dorm parent in June 2018.

“A Work In Process”
My last Work in Process was completing The Blog.
It was finished in November 2019 and took a year to complete.
My next Work in Progress will be “Projects” which is currently in process. In Projects I hope to document and share the little Projects in my life which
have brought me joy. Please check back frequently.

Journeys
The world is such a wonderful place, full of beauty and things of interest.
I have been very blessed to be able to travel and experience this, BUT we can journey out into our garden or go on a short walk and still have a journey worth talking about.

Writings
In life – if we take the time – there are images which evoke memories. Places and things which take us to thin places where we experience just a little touch of heaven.

Glenfinnan Viaduct
Everything we do is designed, whether we’re producing a magazine, a website, or a bridge. Design is really the creative invention that designs everything.
Designed by Scottish Engineers Simpson & Wilson and constructed by Robert McAlpine & Sons, building started in July 1897 and opened in 1901.
The viaduct is mass concrete, and consists of 21 semicircular spans of 50′ and a total length of 1,247’, it is the longest concrete railway bridge in Scotland. It crosses the River Finnan at a height of 100 feet. The viaduct is built on a curve of 792 feet.

Three things will last forever—faith, hope, and love—and the greatest of these is love.
